Coach Certifications
Required Certifications
The following is a list of coach and assistant coach certifications required by Morinville Youth Basketball Association (MYBA). All required training and screening must be completed prior to the start of the season.
The cost of the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders-Alberta Basketball is covered by the MYBA, click HERE to request your unique registration access code.
The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) required E-Learning modules are provided free of charge.
1. National Coaching Certification Program-The Locker (NCCP #)-EYBA League Coaches
Register for an account and NCCP #. The Locker is the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) location for you to access, manage and maintain your training and records.

Safesport is required for coaches per EYBA rulebook and Alberta Provincials.
2. Safe Sport Training- (Required for all MYBA coaches)
After registering at -The Locker -use your NCCP# to login and take SAFE SPORT TRAINING. This is FREE and required for all MYBA coaches that are on the bench.
As of April 1, 2020, all Sport Canada - funded organizations are required to have training in abuse and harassment available to everyone under their immediate authority. Please identify the role for which you’ve been requested to completed this training. Your selection will trigger the appropriate version of the training.
Should you perform roles in multiple categories, please select the one that most closely relates to your main responsibilities.
3. Making Headway in Basketball (Concussion Training)-EYBA League Coaches
This 60-90 minute online training covers: what to do to prevent concussions, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, what to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion, and how to ensure athletes return to play safely.

4. Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM)

Background Screening
All coaches and assistant coaches must provide a valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (CRVSC). The CRVSC is valid for two years and must be uploaded to your Ramp account before the start of the season.
You must apply for the CRVSC in person and the RCMP will contact you once it's ready for in person pickup. The Morinville Detachment is located at 10512 - 101 Avenue and office hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm - Monday through Friday (excluding statutory holidays). If you have inquiries please call 780-939-1600 and someone will be able to assist you.
The volunteer letter is available HERE so that there is no charge for your CRVSC.
